William Barclay in a commentary on the Sermon on the Mount said “Jesus pointed to the action of God in the world, and that is the action of unconquerable benevolence... In God there is this universal benevolence even towards men who have broken his law and broken his heart.”
1John 4:9-10 Message Bible This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. 10 This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.

My Prayer:
O Lord God, may we know your love so deeply and powerfully that we will respond with all of our heart, soul and mind. Teach us and motivate us, to tell the world of your redeeming grace and saving love. May we speak Jesus as you let us live. May we resist the songs of this world and the lies of Satan. Make our minds keen and sharp to discern those songs and lies. Make us alive, O God, to serve you joyfully. In the name of the one who saves us, Amen.
